TeachIT Inquiry-Writing Workshop (Thursday Session)
TeachItct.org Off-Site Workshop -- Directions to CT Historical Society
LOCATION: Connecticut Historical Society, 1 Elizabeth Street, Hartford
TIME: 8:30 a.m. - 3:00
WHO: Connecticut Humanities TeachIt Staff
GRADES: K-12+
TeachIT (TeachITCT.org) is an online resource that allows educators to bring Connecticut history into the classroom through the use of inquiry-based activities that reinforce the learning principles found in the Connecticut State Social Studies Frameworks. On this off-site field trip, you will have the opportunity to see the inquiry activities TeachIt offers, and you will have a chance to create inquiries of your own! Working with the Connecticut Humanities TeachIT staff, the Connecticut Historical Society, Mystic Seaport, the New Haven Museum, the Connecticut State Libraries' Connecticut Digital Newspaper Project, and other partners, the day will be filled with hands-on inquiry opportunities using Connecticut sources. In addition, since TeachIt is a crowd-sourced project for Connecticut teachers, you have the opportunity to work with TeachIt staff to have your own inquiry activities published on TeachItCT.org.
The day will be off-site at the Connecticut Historical Society at 1 Elizabeth Street in Hartford. Our museum and historical society partners will join us there. You may wish to bring your own computer to take notes and to create your inquiry activity. Lunch will be provided. If you have questions about the day, please see Laura Krenicki during the earlier days of the summer institute, or email her at lkrenicki@cthumanities.org.
